about making exercise fun and buy a trampoline! It will
guarantee hours of fun and you will get fit too!

as using it for fun and generally getting fit you can use
it to complement your aerobic exercises. You can also develop
trampolining as a sport and, who knows, take it to a professional
level and you could be competing in the next Olympic Games!
This guide aims to give you some useful tips that will help
you make your decision on which trampoline is best for you.
Health Benefits.
Exercising with a trampoline can be fun
and at the same time can provide you with the fitness level
you need and even reduce fat permanently.
Jumping on a trampoline brings numerous health
and physical benefits such as;
- Benefits for the heart and
blood circulation.
- It helps you control and improve your body
weight and body fat.
- Increases oxygen circulation.
- It builds the lower extremities muscles
providing physical and muscular endurance helping cleansing
the lymphatic system.
- It is an excellent way to improve agility
and balance.
- Stimulates your metabolism.
- Increases energy.
- It provides a good workout that is low impact.
Main factors to consider when buying
a trampoline.
1. Who is going to use
the trampoline? Is it going to be kids, teenagers or adults?
It will determine the type, size and security measures that
you need to consider when buying the perfect trampoline
for your needs. Also, consider what will be the use of the
trampoline is it going to be just for bouncy play area or
for more sporting use.
2. Weight. Before buying
a trampoline, you should check for the user’s maximum weight
allowed. The frame, springs and bouncing surface can only
resist a certain amount of force. Exceeding the maximum
weight can damage the trampoline.
3. Age. You should always
follow the age recommendation stated by the manufacturer,
as there are always age limits for every model. If you want
to buy a trampoline for child use just think if the child
could use it in two or three years time. Don’t make a mistake
buying one that won’t be of any use next year… they grow!
4. Shape. The most common
shapes are round and rectangular. Round trampolines are
ideal for young, inexperienced and fun users as all the
springs work at the same rate. On Rectangular trampolines,
the springs work at a different rate to give more impulse
and higher bounce. They are primarily designed for older
or more experienced bouncers. If mainly young kids are going
to use it, we strongly recommend that you buy a round shape
as the impulse is slower and consequently the bounce is
less high.
5. Parts.
The most important part of the trampoline is the frame
and it’s usually constructed from galvanised steel. A good
quality frame means that the trampoline will last longer
and most of them are rust resistant.
The bed is the jumping
surface. It is normally made of polypropylene and it should
be heavy and UV treated.
The Springs or elastic
bands are usually made of galvanised steel and are flexible
attachments between the bed and the frame. The spring tension
determines the elasticity of the bed.
The frame pad has to be
wide enough to cover all the springs.
6. Space. It’s important that you consider
where you are going to put the trampoline before buying
it. In the garden, courtyard, patio, etc. Don’t forget to
measure the area, you need to have enough space to jump
freely!
7. Safety measures. As
in any sport, you should consider a few safety measures
when using your trampoline. You should always follow the
manufacturers instructions but remember Trampolines are
safe if you follow simple safety measures:
- Always observe the weight limit guidelines.
- Only one user at a time. In larger trampolines, two
or three children can jump at the same time.
- Children should be supervised at all times when using
the trampoline.
- Wear comfortable clothing that allow free movement
and most important wear the correct footwear such as socks,
walking, running or trampoline shoes or even bare feet.
No jewellery should be worn.
- Make sure that you use the trampoline on a level surface.
- Do not jump for long periods and never when tired.
- For more safety, you can have a Safety Enclosure fitted.
- Buy safety pads to cover the springs, hooks and frame.
- The safe fall zone is the surface around the trampoline,
which must be soft. Use materials such as sand or cushioning
material.
- Keep the safe fall zone clear from all objects that
may cause injury such as fences, toys and make sure that
sufficient head clearance is available; trees, overhanging
objects, wires, clotheslines, etc. must not get on the
way.
- Inspect the trampoline before each use and make sure
that it’s in good condition without holes, loose stitching,
the safety pad is in place, the frame is not bent and
the springs are securely attached.
- Bounce in the middle of the trampoline.
- Never jump off the trampoline onto the ground.
8. Maintenance. Trampolines
can remain in good condition for years and they are very
easy to maintain. Manufacturers use good quality materials
and most of them can be kept outdoors. We also recommend
that to cover the trampoline when not using it to keep it
clean and dry.
